The Fighting Rifle 1 course was designed to provide a solid foundation upon which every other advanced rifle skill will be built. Fighting Rifle 1 focuses primarily on the AR-15 platform rifle, but the principles and techniques taught can be easily implemented on similar platforms (i.e., bullpup rifles). This course utilizes a low-stress, skills-and-drills training methodology meant to give students simple yet effective techniques for shooting and manipulating their semi-automatic rifle. Students will learn methods to train and diagnose these techniques on their own so that they can be committed to subconscious actions and applied in complex tactical scenarios. Over 8 hours of classroom and live fire instruction students will be trained on the follow subject areas: - Firearms safety - AR-15 Anatomy, Mechanics, and Maintenance - Mindset (situational awareness, preparedness, etc.) - Practical ballistics - Rifle for Home Defense or Vehicle Gun - Fundamentals of Marksmanship - Basic Rifle Manipulations - Effective Recoil Management - Multiple target engagements Gear Requirements: - AR-15 style rifle* with sights (Irons at a minimum) - Min. 3 magazines - Sling - 1 spare magazine carrier - Min. 350 rounds - Eye & ear protection *Call before registering if you have questions about your specific rifle. Recommended Gear: - Sunscreen - Head covering - Seasonal clothing (i.e. rain jacket, cold weather jacket, etc.) - Speed loader
